Presented at ManilART 2022, the Philippines' leading international art fair, Joy United invited visitors to become part of a continuously evolving artwork shaped by their collective emotional presence.
As people entered the installation, their individual emotional responses merged into a shared visual composition of light, color, and abstract forms. The artwork never repeated itself, changing constantly as new visitors arrived and the atmosphere of the space evolved.
Created for the festival's theme "Forging Futures," the installation explored new relationships between perception, participation, and artistic expression. Rather than observing a finished artwork, visitors experienced a living composition that emerged through their presence, turning the audience itself into an essential creative element.
Joy United became one of the featured interactive installations of ManilART 2022, receiving extensive coverage across Philippine media and demonstrating how contemporary digital art can create shared experiences between strangers through participation and imagination.

"Another highlight of the art fair is an interactive installation by German artists Juliana and Andrey Vrady. Entitled “Joy United” and described as a “dialogue between humans and technology,” the exhibition invites fairgoers to have their emotions detected by computer sensors, who run these by software codes and generate them into art via artificial intelligence. What emerges is a projection of different colors and patterns corresponding to the person’s detected moods."
